DOMINIC DITOMMASO

\\ Bio //

Singer songwriter Dominic DiTommaso, born and raised in small town Vienna Ohio, moved to Nashville TN in 2018 to further his career in music. Dominic was surrounded by music from an early age, being that his father is also a musician. In a house of guitars, pianos, and drums, Dominic occasionally found himself behind one of these instruments, but in third grade in an attempt to keep up with his older brother who was performing in the school’s band, he decided to take up playing trumpet as his main instrument. At the age of nine, he began taking private lessons with the school’s band director which ultimately led to the director forming the fourth grade band for the Mathews school district. As he continued to improve, he began playing in the local youth honors bands. In sixth grade, the band director allowed Dominic to participate in the high school marching band, breaking the school district’s rules for the band. In eighth grade, Dominic decided to audition for the Stambaugh Youth Orchestra, an orchestra directed by at the time Youngstown State University orchestral director Dr. Gage, open only to those in ninth grade through twelfth grade. Dominic was the first pre-high school auditionee to be accepted into the orchestra.

At this time, Dominic also began playing piano for the local church that he was attending. This church played a major part in Dominic’s continuation of music, where he participated as a musician in one of the church’s plays along with some of the other youth. The band became an unintentional local hit, and continued to perform at other venues following the church’s play. As the band grew in popularity, Dominic’s dad began to help organize and direct the band musically, and the band later branded itself as the Christian band “Raising Change”. After ninth grade, Dominic quit the highschool band to play football, resulting in the church and the newly established band Raising Change to be Dominic’s only musicical outlets.

At the age of seventeen, Dominic became ill and was diagnosed with ulcerative colitis. Being that Dominic required multiple surgeries, Raising Change was now unable to perform. Dominic would miss half of his junior year and all of his senior year of high school, being forced to finish school online. During the constant recovery time of his multiple surgeries, Dominic was unable to participate in many of his favorite activities and hobbies, and was forced to find new ones. It was at this time that he really began to pick up the guitar. For the next year and a half of surgeries, Dominic would continue to practice his guitar claiming it as his main instrument of choice.

After recovering from his illness, Dominic began playing acoustically with his father at many of the local venues. He began to build a local reputation for himself, at many of the local wineries and restaurants. As he improved, he began writing his own music, focusing more on his songwriting. While performing at one of the local venues, Dominic became acquainted with whom would be his guitar teacher, Jazz guitarist Frank P. Castellano. Dominic studied guitar under Frank for the following year and a half, and continued to write his own music, until deciding to move to Nashville TN in 2018 to further his career, where he would release his debut single “Perfume”. Since then he has continued to release multiple singles, and has plans to release more music in the near future.
